Media Monitor for Women Network

Since 2012, a group of young women’s rights activists has launched a series of campaigns. “The bloodstained bride” is one held in the streets to encourage women to fight against domestic violence. On March 8, 2015, International Women’s Day, five feminist activists from this group were arrested for planning to distribute stickers on buses to raise awareness of sexual harassment on public transportation and were detained on charges of “picking quarrels and provoking troubles.” Thirty-seven days later, “The Feminist Five” were released on bail, under tremendous domestic and international pressure.
