Mukto Mona


After the tragic death of her husband, Avijit Roy, blogger Rafida Bonya Ahmed vowed to continue to speak out about secularism and science at the group blog he helped found, Mukto Mona. Her husband was a well-known blogger who was hacked to death by unknown assailants in Dhaka in February 2015. He was renowned for the critical stance he took on religious fundamentalism. Like her husband, blogger Bonya, who was also injured in the attack and lost a finger, has refused to be intimidated. She is an active supporter of secular Bangladesh and is known for her writings on the Theory of Evolution. She and other authors at Mukto Mona continue the blog and their work for a secular Bangladesh.
