Personal data are individual pieces of information about the personal or factual conditions of an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes information such as a person’s name, address, telephone number and date of birth. Information that is not directly connected to a factual identity, such as favorite websites or the number of people at a website – is not personal data.
Personal data collection
Personal data will only be saved when provided by the user (see below). In addition to information provided by the user, the following pieces of information are saved whenever our web pages are accessed:
- IP address
- Session ID
- Session cookies and permanent cookies to check if a participant has already voted.
- Irreversibly encoded user ID from the login service provider, which does not include information about the user’s actual identity, to check if a participant has already voted.
- Time stamp of the suggestion or vote
- User-provided information in the suggestion phase: URL, category and language of the site being submitted.
- User-provided information in the voting phase: candidate and category of the site which receives a vote.
No additional personal information is collected.
Use and transfer of personal data
The personal information provided is used exclusively for purposes related to the technical operation of the website. Personal information is not provided, transferred or sold in any form to third parties.
Data protection policies for social networks
This website integrates the following social networks: Facebook, Twitter, Vkontakte, OpenID and DW’s one registration process. Logging into this site using these networks creates a connection between your browser and the social network. The network receives information that your IP address has visited our site. As the provider of this website, we are informed neither of the content of data transferred to the social network nor of how the network uses or stores the information. We have taken all organizational and technical security measures necessary to protect your personal information from loss or theft. Data are saved in a physical location that is not accessible to the public.
The organizer is permitted to end the awards at any time; to cancel and/or change rules of participation at any time. The organizer reserves the right to check all content provided in regards to legal and ethical standards and to remove content from the competition that does not meet these standards.
There is no legal right to a win. The organizer’s decision is final and there is no right to legal recourse.
